Does it hurt to get an STI test?

STI testing is usually quick, simple and should not be painful.

Depending on which tests you need, you may be asked to do a urine sample, a swab, or a blood test. Some parts of the test may feel a little uncomfortable or awkward, but they are usually not painful and are over quickly.

If you are feeling nervous, let the healthcare provider know, they can explain each step and help you feel more comfortable.
